📘 How to Use WCS Rights
Simple enough for anyone to understand — written so a 6-year-old could follow along.
This App is Like Having a Free Lawyer in Your Pocket 🧑⚖️
When someone treats you unfairly — a shop, a boss, a landlord, a bank — this app tells you exactly what your rights are, who to call, and what steps to take. You don't need money or legal training. Just follow the steps.
📖 Go to Library and find your problem
Tap the "Library" button at the top. Tap a colour pill to pick your problem type (Consumer, Labour, Housing, etc.). Tap "✅ View Process Steps" on any card to see exactly what to do.
✓ Free🛡️ Read your Rights so you know your power
Tap "Rights" in the top menu. You have 9 superpowers given to you by law. Read them. They apply to you right now, even if you did not know about them before.
✓ Free🗺️ Use the Complaint Navigator to get your Action Plan
Tap "Get Help" in the menu. Answer 3 simple questions by tapping the right box. At the end, you will get a personalised action plan that tells you exactly who to call and what to say.
✓ Free🔖 Save the cases you need to your Vault
On any card in the Library, tap "🔖 Save Case" at the bottom. This saves it to your Vault. You can read it later even without internet — like saving it to your phone.
✓ Free✨ Get AI to write your letter (if you need it)
Tap "Tools" in the menu. Pick one of the 6 AI helpers. Type your story in simple words — no fancy language needed. The AI will write a professional letter or answer for you in seconds.

Write in plain words
You don't need to use legal language. When using AI Tools, just write like you're telling a friend what happened. The AI will translate it into the right legal language for you.
Always include dates
Mention the date when things happened. E.g. "I bought the TV on 10 January 2025." Dates are very important in legal complaints — they determine deadlines.
Keep photos and screenshots
Take photos of broken items, price tags, receipts and WhatsApp messages. Screenshots of emails count as evidence. The more proof you have, the stronger your case.
Don't wait too long
Most complaints have deadlines. You have 30 days to lodge at the CCMA after being dismissed. You have 6 months to return defective goods. Act as soon as you notice the problem.
Always complain in writing first
Before going to a regulator, send a written complaint to the company first. WhatsApp, email or a letter all count. Keep a copy. Most cases require proof you tried to resolve it first.
Check links before clicking
If you receive a WhatsApp message claiming you won a prize, or that your SASSA grant is ready, or that your bank account is blocked — paste the link into the Security scanner BEFORE clicking.
Save your most-used guides
If you are dealing with a landlord, dismiss issue, or defective goods — save that card to your Vault. You can read it again later even without internet. Tap Print Dossier to get a paper copy.
Use your language
The AI Chat works in English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, isiXhosa, Sesotho and Setswana. When you open the chat, pick your language from the dropdown at the top before you start typing.
It is always free to complain
The CCMA, CGSO, NCC, Rental Housing Tribunal and Legal Aid South Africa are all free. You do not need to pay a lawyer to use most of these services. The law is on your side.
The CCMA has a 30-day deadline. If you were dismissed unfairly, you have exactly 30 days from the date of dismissal to lodge your dispute. If you miss this, you must apply for an extension and explain why you were late. Do not wait.
Your bank will NEVER ask for your OTP, PIN or password. Not via SMS, WhatsApp, phone call or email. If someone asks for these — hang up or ignore. It is always a scam.
You cannot be evicted without a court order. Even if you owe rent. If your landlord tries to remove you or change the locks without a court order — call SAPS on 10111 and Legal Aid SA on 0800 110 110 immediately.
Your WCS Rights data stays on your phone. The app saves your Vault and settings to your phone's local storage. Nothing is sent to any server. The only time data leaves your device is when you use the AI tools (your question is sent to Google's AI) or the AI Chat.
The AI tools are helpers, not lawyers. The letters and advice generated by the AI are a great starting point. For serious legal matters — criminal cases, large court claims, or complex disputes — also consult a real lawyer. Legal Aid SA provides free lawyers if you qualify.
